Introduction

I have been teaching music for more than 25 years, and I call myself a "teachaholic": just because I love what I am doing! As a singer I have teaching, performing and recording experience in various genres: jazz, pop, rock, gospel, musical and classical. As a piano teacher, I have a strong classical education. Therefore I am specialized more in classical piano literature. However, when it comes to accompanying my voice students, I am ready to play any genres! About my education: Bachelor and Master of Music and Music Education Dual Degree at 'The Liszt Academy of Music' Budapest, Hungary. I was an Adjunct Professor at the Music Department at Western Oregon University (WOU) substituting in the 2015 Fall Term. Through WOU I was twice (in 2017 and 2018) a guest vocal professor at the Guangxi Art University in Nanning, China. Currently, I am the Adjunct Professor of Applied Jazz Voice at Lewis and Clark College, in Portland, OR. I provide my students with a safe, nurturing, supporting and friendly atmosphere right from the very first moment, so they can feel that they can trust me. I offer voice and piano lessons in Multnomah Village, in my home studio to Lake Oswego/Tigard/Beaverton/Tualatin, with quick access to I-5, I-205 and OR-217.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We meet for a trial lesson to have a feel for each other because mutual sympathy is essential when it comes to one-on-one lessons! We talk about plans, goals, dreams and based on the individual's level I suggest how I would work with him/her. I also describe the method I would apply. Then we schedule a regular weekly lesson.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Voice: People who attended my concerts came to me asking for private voice lessons. Piano: Some of my voice students wanted to learn piano as well.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Piano: I teach children as young as six years old and adults in their 70s! Voice: I have broad experience with both male and female students, starting from age 12 to late 70s. Pop, rock, musical theater, classical, jazz, Americana, country, folk, r&b, soul - my method is applicable for any style. Therefore I have been working with students who had interest toward the above-mentioned genres. I had students who were already active stage performers and recording artists, and students who just wanted to start a new hobby. I had students with almost no voice and a minimal vocal range, but they did not stay like that! Their range increased and their voice grew stronger. Shy students with no confidence reached the level to perform on stage with courage. Students with damaged vocal chords recovered; a student who had issues with even hitting the right pitch recorded his cd after having voice lessons with me for 2,5 years.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
When the 2017 school year started, a young girl started voice lessons with me. She wanted to practice for the school choir. Her voice was barely audible. She sounded as if she was frightened to sing although her personality seemed confident. I started working with her and after a year she sings with the same confidence as she behaves herself. I enjoy seeing her opening and freeing up!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Meet me personally or contact by phone to get a feel for me! A response to your request cannot answer all of your questions! Besides, although making music is a fun activity, it is also intimate. Therefore, I think it is crucial that the student and teacher are on the same 'wavelength' to work effectively.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
- what do the lessons cost? - typically how long does it take to reach my goals? - what to expect during a lesson/how do the lessons go?
